Sweetest boys ever,

There are days when my boys exasperate me.  Days when I would gladly give them over to the gypsies without hesitation.  And then there are times like this week where I can't stuff another ounce of pride anywhere in my body, because they truly are so very sweet.

Aidan lost a tooth this week.  I pulled it out for him.  When he was settled into bed that night, he asked if he could leave a note for the tooth fairy.  I said that was fine, and brought him a piece of paper.  I said good night, and left him to write his note... this is what the Tooth Fairy found....

It says, Dear Tooth Fairy. My Mom never ever pulled one of my teeth and today was her first time.  I Love You Tooth Fairy. (lots of hearts) From: Aidan  I love.

Oh how my heart melted when I read that.  What a wonderful boy I have :) How I love his sweet heart.

And then there's Mason... who, tries really hard :)  Unfortunately he had to have a bad moment to get his sweet moment... He threw a toy at his friend.  So I exiled him to his room.  When he finally settled down, and then learned that no, a Happy Meal is NOT the only thing that will make him feel better, he sat at the table, and asked for a piece of paper.  I obliged, and walked away.  When I returned, I found this...

He explained that it was his "I'm sorry picture".  He is still sad, and I am happy that he is being sorry.  If he hadn't had a Happy Meal the night before, I'm pretty sure I would have caved and gotten him one for this.  I've never seen him do anything like this before!!  I love this sweet boy :)

So for all of you with boys, I'm sorry, but they are all out of the running for sweetest boys ever.  I'm pretty sure we have the market cornered over here :)

Just a couple random things

So, in case my memory fails me some day, but I am still able to remember my blog address for some reason, I want to record this memory here :)  Mason and tooth brushing can be a rocky time of day.  On one particularily rough night, I made up a song to sing him while we brushed... it goes like this... sung to the tune of Baa Baa Black sheep...

Oh Oh Orange Kitty

Oh Oh Orange Kitty do you have any yarn?
Yes Mummy, Yes Mummy, yes I have some yarn.
Some for Mason and some for Jenna,
some for Aidan and some for Daddy too.
Oh Oh Orange Kitty do you have any yarn?
Yes Mummy, Yes Mummy, I already told you I have yarn!!!

Mason just LOVES this song :)  And it gets his teeth brushed Every Time!!  I love it :)

AND! I tried something new for dinner tonight.  Menu planning didn't happen this week.  I'm sick, there was Easter, blah blah blah...  So! Tonight was a real fly by the seat of your pants night.  I was REALLY in the mood for Turkey pot pie.  So that's what I made! kinda... I took a cup of frozen mixed veggies, about a cup of chopped turkey, a can of mushroom soup, and that was it! I mixed those in a 9" glass pie plate. Then I put a double batch of my homemade dumplings on top, and baked it for about 30 minutes at 400*.  SO yummy!!  I might make a couple changes next time though.  1.) I would use cream of chicken soup, 2.) maybe a little dash of cream, 3.) and I would roll out a single batch of dumplings and put that on top. We found the double batch a bit much, and it wasn't baked all the way through in a couple spots. 4.) I might add in a tsp of Poultry seasoning too... just for a bit of flavour.

But man... it was TASTY!  And so Quick!!

Come back tomorrow when I tell you all about how my boys are the sweetest boys on the planet... with pictures!

Ouch!!!

I'm in the process of making my second all fondant cake.  I covered an 8" round, and a half ball stacked onto a 6" round last night.  (It's going to be a Barbie cake) So that's a fair amount of fondant to roll out by hand.  I just went to roll out some more to make the bodice for the dress and some accents and my HANDS!!  Oh my heck!!  my hands are sooo bruised!!  The part of the palms of my hands that is directly below where my fingers end... like where my knuckles are, but on the other side... gah! Whatever.  inside there is so tender and sore!!

When I am rich and famous and successful, I have a feeling that my most treasured item will be my fondant roller machine!!

What I wouldn't do for a pasta maker right now!!
